Square dance is a fun, social activity for all ages. You can come with a partner, with friends, or by yourself. Be prepared to laugh, make mistakes and have fun.
What to wear? Comfortable clothing and shoes. The Historic Royal Oak Women's Institute Hall, our home hall, has just refinished their beautiful dance floor so we ask that you wipe off your shoes to remove any grit before dancing.
Two left feet? Don't worry. We will provide the music, the venue, a caller/teacher and Angels. Angels are experienced dancers who come out as volunteers to help the new dancers. Some of our Angels have been dancing for over 20 years, (which says something good about this activity). You'll be dancing with both newcomers and long time members.
A bit about us. This year, the Country Cousins, and Mavericks, two long standing Square Dancer clubs will be jointly running these classes. You will finds that Square Dancers in Victoria are an inclusive, friendly community of people who come together to dance and socialize. Once you learn to dance, there are 4 clubs in the Victoria and Colwood area that provide dancing opportunities at least every week. Around BC, Canada and the world there are many clubs and opportunities to dance.
